It's all very well paying our taxes and leaving it to government to look after things for us - and to leave it to government to decide who gets what.

But just like us, governments have to budget to meet and choices to make, and sometimes their decisions aren't the way you'd like it ... surprise, surprise !

But if you disagree, you can always give some of your own money to where you think it's needed: you can make a donation to a cause of your choice.

What is interesting is that governments will help you do that.

Even though it's working to its own budget, government has also budgeted to help people make personal donations by taking their donations off the tax they pay.

So you do have a choice about where your money gets spent.
